About this project

Dedication

This work is offered in humble remembrance of Srimad Uttamur Veeraraghavachariar Swamy (1897–1983), the revered Sri Vaishnava acharya and scholar, in whose parampara it is carried forward. Among his many works, he composed a Tamil commentary (urai) on the Sankshepa Ramayana — the "Ramayana in brief," the opening sarga of Valmiki's Bala Kanda in which Narada narrates the whole epic in a hundred verses.

It is also offered at the feet of the acharyas of this lineage — Shri Ramanujacharya, Srimad Vedanta Desikan, and the acharyas of the Parakala Matha.

Swamy also composed an Eka-Śloki Rāmāyaṇam — the entire epic distilled into a single verse.

What this is

A study repository connecting Kamban's Ramayanam (கம்பராமாயணம்) to the wider Sri Vaishnava and Sanskrit tradition, read through the Vishishtadvaita (viśiṣṭādvaita) lens.

Sources & copyright

The Kamba Ramayanam Tamil text and padalam structure follow the public-domain edition (மூலமும் உரையும்) of the Kamban Trust / tamilvu.org. The English translation follows the rendering of the late P.S. Sundaram, cited with gratitude. We also cite and deep-link to authoritative sources for the compared texts (e.g. valmikiramayan.net, holy-bhagavad-gita.org), quoting only short excerpts. Full texts remain with their sources.

How content is verified

Content is AI-assisted and then human-verified. Every entry carries a status — draft, verified, or published. Anything not yet published is visibly marked, so nothing unverified is presented as authoritative.
